Baker was born in Binghamton, New York, to Doris (nÃÆ' à © e Hamlin) and Ralph B. Baker, a professional artist. He is married and has two daughters.

Careers
As a teenager, Baker started making artificial body parts in his own kitchen. He also appeared briefly in the production of The Night Turkey's fan, a black-and-white, one-hour video of The Night Stalker directed by William Malone. Baker's first professional work was as a veterans prosthetic makeup assistant assistant Dick Smith on the movie The Exorcist.
