Tentang lagu

The group guitarist at the time, Warren Cuccurullo, was credited with developing the instrumentation for "Come Undone", the most important of which was his guitar hook, which he developed when attempting to re-interpret the "First Impression" of their 1990 album. > Liberty . In 2005, Cuccurullo revealed to writer Steve Malins that he and Nick Rhodes initially planned to use the song for a project outside Duran Duran with Gavin Rossdale, but had changed plans when singer Simon Le Bon liked music and started coming up with lyrics on the spot.

Rhodes expanded on song creation during the album's 20th anniversary in 2013.

It was something that Warren and I started to write with some other things we had played, and Simon came in and heard what we were doing. He said, 'Wow, I like that!' And it became the song Duran Duran. [Simon] came up with a really great melody - we already have a 'can not keep falling apart' part - and he quickly makes it a part of himself. "

The song was included as a last minute addition to their self-titled album in 1993, with lyrics written by Le Bon as a gift to his wife, Yasmin.

The group bassist, John Taylor, does not really play the bass on this track, although he does it in music videos. Nick Rhodes and John Jones both donated a synth bass on the track during his absence. Tessa Niles is credited with backing vocals. The song also contains a sample of The Soul Searchers song "Ashley's Roachclip".

Menurut John Jones,

by the time we have completed and mastered the Wedding Album and have started the album cover "Thank You". One day we took a loop and bass groove drum from my demo titled "Face to Face" and added the ultra cool guitar riff that Warren raised to "cover" a new version of "First Impression". After a few hours of tweaking we played the song on the phone to the Capitol in Los Angeles and they loved it and said they wanted it on the Wedding album! When Nick arrived that afternoon the intro was carved into the song we played for Simon that night. He came back the next day with lyrics and melodies and I think we completed the vocals the day after. On the fourth day we completed the track detail and sent it to David Richards in Switzerland for mixing.

Lamya Al-Mugheiry sang back vocals in the Unplugged version for MTV in November 1993.

Music video

Video "Come Undone" directed by Julien Temple. The band shots were filmed in the London Aquarium, displaying arowana clearly; this is interspersed with short sketches of "irrevocable" people in various ways. This vinyet includes a little girl who saw her parents together, an elderly couple who survived the flood, an alcoholic and a man who was revealed to be a cross-dresser. Also seen in the video is a woman who fights under water to break free from the chains that bind her. LeBon and Taylor's Vivienne Westwood outfits were probably the first nods of the New New Romantic era.

A portion of the music video can be seen in the episode "Not Laughing" from MTV show Beavis and Butt-head, which was aired in July 1993.
